Yes it’s true. Bill Gates is leaving Microsoft to devote his time to charitable work in his foundation. I am not a Microsoft fan, but I just have to say that what this man achieved is one of the great stories of the 20th and 21st century. To his credit, he became the richest man of the world running a business which wasn’t involved in destroying the planet or creating killing machines.

Google might be today’s Microsoft and some say that the golden era of Microsoft has come and gone. But it is still a giant, successful corporation that probably will be around for some time still. It will be interesting to watch Microsoft in the post-Bill era (he will stay as the company’s Chairman, but will not have day-to-day responsibilities).

Many entrepreneurs get stuck with the companies they build as everything centers on their persona. Microsoft doesn’t seem to be one of those.
