Yesterday, I received a comment on one of my posts from someone who said he’s from a company called Blink offering internet for business plans from 5 500 Mbit on their own infrastructure!

Has anyone heard of them or dealt with them?

More unreliable, bad latency and speed internet providers with superficial customer service, very low product quality, misleading advertising and unbelievably high prices?

Did I just sum up all Internet providers in Jordan in one sentence?

sorry for unrelated comment, but I have a question and would appreciate your input: I have a Black Macbook (2.4GHz, less than 1 year old), barely used. I want to sell it in Amman – do you know anybody who might be interested? is 800JD a fair price, or is it too high/low?
is there a website for trading in amman? (kind of like craigslist.com)

anyway, i dont think they will do anything. unless they are a multibillion dollar company they wont be able to enter the land line market.

    Hi all,

My name is Khalid Shaka, I am the managing director of Blink Communications. I was told this thread mentioned Blink and was asked to check it out and if possible comment.

I believe I need to give you a brief about the company since our website is clearly still not functional.

Blink Communications is a broadband ISP dedicated to servicing corporate customers with heavy and customized bandwidth needs.

    Just to clarify:

    1. Blink is NOT a multibillion dollar company. We are a group of young entrepreneurs trying to make a difference in the broadband market in Jordan.

    2. We would like to believe that we are having an impact on the market, especially since our prices are very competitive when compared with leased lines and microwave offers from other ISPs in Jordan. We do not use land lines since our objective is to drive demand beyond copper capabilities.

    3. I would be the first to admit that our website doesn’t do the best job in reflecting what we are trying to do. However, we are still in early phases of launching and our portal is indeed under construction.

    4. In fact, we do offer up to 1Gbps of Internet access. It remains to be seen, however, if any business in Jordan does require that sort of bandwidth

If you have any comments or insight you would like to share with us, please do not hesitate to contact me on

    Thank you for your interest

Nope, but i’ve heard of wi-tribe and here’s my 2cent.

No it’s not a new service, it’s more of frustration with el enternet le3betna.

Last year in August 2oth I made a monthly subscription to wi-tribe 2.0M. Every 2oth of the month my bill was due regardless when I paid it. When I made my subscription then, I asked to pay by credit card, and they told me sorry we do not have credit card payment systems yet. Imagine its 2009, and they’re in the tech business without credit card systems. But I could live with that. However, going every month to pay the bill on the 20th didn’t always work due to busy schedule. They were nice enough to give keep the account active till the 27th, sometimes I was able to pay before it got disconnect sometimes after.

Don’t jump the gun, some of you would think why not pay quarterly or yearly and avoid the monthly hassle drive to Mecca mall. Well, I guess when you trying a service from a company for the first time, and you’re being bombarded by other offers and speeds from other providers, you wan’na stay away from being tied down for a full year.

Anyways, later this year they upgraded their speeds and reduced their prices, the 1 became 1.5 and the 2.o became 3.omb from 48JD to 37JD.

My 3.omb has been varying every since, I thought they switched me to dial-up or something. I’d call them almost every week, and all they had to say was put it next to the window, exactly where its been since last year.

Anyways, got really skeptic with the connection so when the 20th came I couldn’t be bothered to go pay. On the 13th of June, I was at mecca mall and since I needed the net, I decided what the heck and went to activate my account. The sales rep informed me that now they have credit card payments, which was a relief. The sales rep, also told me that my bill is 27JD, and when I asked him how come when its 37jd, he told me well there is 10jd’s from last month. Something till this day they were unable to give me a rational explanation for.

So I asked him if they take pre-paid credit cards, and he said yes, gave him my card, paid the 27 JD, signed the form for the upgrade, and that I wish to pay by credit card and headed home. Remember this was on June 13th.

On June 24th my account was disabled! They informed me that they do not accept prepaid credit cards and I need to visit the showroom. I called customer support and told them why in the first place are they trying to charge me on the 20th, when I paid on the 13th and she said that was last months bill. Lol the one in which I had 10jd from the month before. She said your subscription date is August 20th 2008, so the 20th of the month is your payment date. Here is where I got really skeptic about the payment system and its accuracy.

A few days ago I headed to Mecca mall, to sort it out. After receiving irrational explanations of what’s going on, I decide it’s time to pull out the sore tooth. So I told the sales rep, I want to end my subscription what needs to be done.

    Here is the conversation:

Sales Rep: “if you want to end your subscription you need to bring the modem, and you will have to pay 89JD.”

    I’m like “89JD what for.”

He replies “it’s a fine because your subscription ends on June 13th 2010.”

Me, “What my subscription was on August 20th 2008, it finishes on August 20th 2009”

He responds, “No, when we upgraded your account, and paid by credit card, that form you signed is dated June 13th 2009.” I could almost hear his inner voice say to me “hehehe, you got punked!”

I’m like “No way, none of you informed me that you changed the date of subscription, YOU upgraded your speeds, not me, no one informed me?”

After a few grunts I headed home, not only confused but betrayed, because they didn’t inform me about this change. When I reached home still fuming in anger, something crossed my mind. If my new subscription date is the 13th of June then my next payment is on July 13th not June 20th, makes sense doesn’t it.

So again why did they disconnect me on the 24th????? I called again, and told them about my point, there answer was “we disabled your account because we don’t take pre-paid cards.” I said “what about my money, what happened to the subscription I paid?” She told me that I have 31JD, to my account and I need to go to the show room and give them a non-pre-paid card.

So again I went to Mecca mall, and to be honest I didn’t want to pay with my credit card, not after all this mess. So I told him that I will pay by cash. Surprisingly he says “If you do, you will need to sign a new form, and if you pay in cash you will loose the 31jd!” I’m like loose the 31jd, why?? He says because when you initiated the credit card payments, we took the insurance money you paid when you first made your subscription and transferred it into your account.”

Huh? You mean that the 31jd was the insurance money, where’s the money I paid on the 13th?? He said, “that was paid for May’s subscription!!” Huhh?? What the @#$@# is going on here.

Yes im sure you are confused as hell as I am. If I end my subscription, I have to pay 89jd because my new contract somehow became 13th of June 2009 and ends on the 13 of june 2010. Yes the same contract, which proves my next payment is on July 13th, and that my account shouldn’t have been disconnected on the 24th. Which proves I should have 31jd in my account. The same 31jd, which I will loose if I pay in cash because that was insurance money, transferred to my account.

I couldn’t care less about the 31jd, nor the 89jd I will pay to end my subscription, because I’m going to consider the 120jd, a well-paid encouragement to inform all my friends, neighbors, and strangers that wi-tribe has issues beyond human comprehension. And trust me word-of-mouth is power.

Now, does anybody have anything nice to say about Internet providers to boost my morale so I can subscribe to their services????

One of the founders (Khalid) happens to be a good friend of mine. We are going to get a 13 Mbps line from them soon. I can’t comment on the service yet, but knowing Khalid I expect Blink to be different from the lousy ISPs in Jordan.

    Dear all,

My name is Khalid Shaka, I am the managing director of Blink Communications.

After reading some of your posts, I believe I need to shed some light on what Blink Communications is doing and perhaps address some of the points mentioned above.

Blink Communications is an ISP that is focused on serving corporate customers. We provide broadband services utilizing a mixture of technologies including fiber optics, microwave links and wireless laser links. We do not provide ADSL or Leased Line services over copper wires as traditional ISPs do.

Our range of products and services are designed and customized for each enterprise to suit their particular connectivity needs. We do indeed offer Internet speeds up to 1 Gbps full duplex, it remains to be seen, however, if any one company would actually require such a connection.

We do have clients who obtained our services with bandwidths ranging from 5Mbps to 15Mbps so far. We hope we can push the limits of conventional bandwidth usage and make 50Mbps connections a common and affordable connectivity option.

Please note that although our prices are very competitive, our products are designed to replace and improve on single and multiple leased lines, so do not expect ADSL prices for our products.

If you are interested in learning more about Blink Communications, please do not hesitate to contact me on

    Thank you for your interest.

Sounds like they are doing something not approved by the TRC, but then again who is in jordan? it’s a circus here and as you know they have pirated DVDs and CDs selling for half a JD and nobody cares… still kind of risky to make business with them if they are not approved by the TRC..

according to my humble knowledge in telecoms.

what about the infrastructre. how does blink put cables?
im pretty sure they arent using JT lines since they are offering 500mb and 1gb speeds.

do they digg the streets for every customer or what? :D

    Dear All,

I am another partner in Blink Communications, and just in case what Khalid said earlier was not clear. let me clarify few points.

1- Akram, we are a licensed telecom operator by the TRC.
2- tero, we use several ways to provide our service, Fiber in the ground is one of them, others include free space optics and microwave.

the point that is important to remember is that we are a corporate ISP. not an isp for homes or small businesses.

we are already operational, and our client list includes some of Jordan’s largest corporations.
