For weeks I have not been using my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic browser. It simply would start loading a page then crash and go back to the phone’s home screen. The only solution was to do a hard reset by dialing *#7370#.

But make sure you back up you phone’s data to the memory card first, using the Backup option under the File Manager application (you’ll find it in the Applications folder).

I also did a sync with my Mac before resetting the phone.

The browser is now working normally.

BTW, this crashing also affected my Accuwaether application (which I think is a Flash application).

It’s a very annoying problem, but at least it is solvable through a reset. I was afraid of having to reinstall the firmaware or something like that.

My emergency browser during the past weeks was Opera Mini. A pretty amazing browser (but I think it is not free. I think I have a demo version that shuts itself down after a certain period).

    Thanks for the tip, Ahmad!

Forget about Nokias for while =) I can get you an unlocked 3Gs with warranty.

Nokia reminds me of the American automobile industry. There was on answer to all questions, MORE POWER! Nevermind control and utility, agility or design pufff…just add more pixels and more memory apparently is the Nokian panacea.

You will find your browser more quick and never crash if disable Java Script. Untill the update to V30.0.011 it was for me the only way to avoid the crash on saome pages. After the V30.0.011 the browser stopped crash even with Java Script enaled, however it still works faster when JS is deisabled.

Some report that after update to V30.0.011 one need to hard reset to enable all the features. However, they recommend just to turn the phone off, remove the battery and than attach the battety again. There is no need to backup in this case

no. Opera mini isnt a demo. It shuts down suddenly bcoz the app contains a bug. Its not stable for the s60v5 mobiles. We have to wait for the final release.
