Eye 50
When I went to pick up the latest issue of Eye magazine (No. 50, Vol. 13, Winter 2003) from the Bcherbogen bookstore in Berlin, I was already excited as I knew that it contained an article by Paul Khera on Arabic type that mentioned my typeface ‘Ahmad’. When I saw that the article is actually the cover story I was thrilled!

The article, which focused on the excellent work of Yassar Abbar (Has Yassar Abbar developed the Arab World’s answer to Univers?) also prominently showed examples of traditional Arabic script that I supplied. These were photos of old Quran pages, which were acquired a few years ago by my father-in-law, as well as renditions of the word ‘Allah’ in a variety of Arabic calligraphic styles, which I commissioned from the Amman-based Syrian calligrapher Saleh Nasab.
