Permaculture: Greening the Jordanian desert

I just read this post on Rami’s Wall. It’s about an amazing experiment in reviving a damaged land..

Rami’s Wall: Greening the Jordanian Desert:
Geoff Lawton has found a way to green the Jordanian desert. Using the ‘principles of permaculture’, he helped Jordanian farmers ‘to salvage a heavily salted environment and turn it into a green oasis.’ Watch him explain what he’s been doing here.

A detailed post about this project can be found on the site of the Permaculture Research Institute in Australia.

By the way, my brother Bashar, is currently looking for people interested in joining him to develop a community/project based on sustainability concepts and alternative energy resources, somewhere in/near the Jordan Valley. He was amazed when I showed him the links above.

His ideas are based on the concepts developed by Earthship.

If you’re interested in a “Biotecture meets Permaculture” project in Jordan contact him at info (a t) arabyat.de or just leave a comment here.

I have published the worldwide biggest site on renewable energies. It’s in German – but I think it could also be useful for you – because it shows what happens during the last decades COMPLETE.

Have a look to the ‘Inhalt’ here (the content):

Can you recommend a book/book review on greening of the desert?
