I am still following the Steorn free energy story, despite its disappearance of the media radar screen. The company’s discussion forums have erupted again after a period of quiet. This has been fueled by Steorn’s recent posting of various FAQs.

The discussion on the forums are heated. An interesting aspect of the the forums is the personal online feud going on between certain members of the forum, whose clash goes back longer than the Steorn story. While many of the discussions are scientific or engineering-related in nature, the lack of any significant technical details about the technology (other than it depends on permanent magnets and non linear/non circular movement paths) is giving the forums a semi-religious feel: It’s the ‘believers’ battling it out with the ‘non-believers’.

Steorn has also issued a press release on Oct 3rd announcing that..

..from 9th October, Steorn will begin contacting applicants on its shortlist to establish their availability as potential jury members. This part of the process should take two weeks, approximately.

From those who have responded to Steorn’s challenge, 12 will be invited to take part in a rigorous testing exercise to prove that Steorn’s technology creates free energy. The results will be published worldwide.

Sean McCarthy, CEO of Steorn, commented: “The invitation to test our technology has resulted in an excellent response. We have spent the past few weeks examining the responses in detail and as a result have reduced the number of people under consideration for the jury from the original 5,000 to several hundred. We are now drawing this phase of the process to a close and will eliminate applicants that fail to meet the deadline for submission of academic and professional qualifications as well as those who prove to be not suitably qualified.”

“Once we have finalised our shortlist of potential jury members and verified their credentials we will begin appointing the jury of 12. The jury will comprise the most qualified scientists who are prepared to test the technology and publish their findings to the world, whatever those findings turn out to be.”
