Steorn's new web site

Regular readers of 360east know that I have been following the new of a Steorn, an Irish company that claims to have invented a magnetic technology that produces free energy.

While the story has disappeared from mainstream media, the company’s web forums are abuzz with ardent believers in the company, skeptical detractors as well as a group of engineers and tinkerers, who are feverishly conversing, cooperating and discussing and fighting in one forum thread after the other.

Today, Steorn unveiled a new web site and displayed the name and the logo of its technology: Orbo.

Since Steorn made its August 2006 controversial announcement that it has invented a free energy technology in a full page ad in the Economist, the company has not disclosed how the technology works. Currently, an unnamed jury of twelve supposedly prominent scientists and engineers is in the process of validating Steorn’s technology.

However, Steorn’s CEO Sean McCarthy has been engaging his forum’s technical audience in a discussion, based on which a number of the forum;s members are trying to replicate a magnetic contraption which demonstrates the Steorn effect. Such a device was shown by McCarthy in a demonstration in the Kinetica Museum in late 2006.

Some results of this tinkering are being shown on YouTube:

I was thinking about all of this during my recent visit to Qatar, which, due to its oil and gas resources is emerging as one of the richest country per capita in the world. The whole global economy revolves around fossil fuels. An invention like Steorn’s, if proven by the jury and demonstrated in real life, could turn the whole world upside down.

Free energy and, who knows, maybe even quantum computing might make 2007 a really amazing year.

Not neccesarily. Free Energy might mean world war.

    Let’s hope it’s peace.

By the way, if you think about free infinite energy, it means that money will be useless, don’t you think?

    Just think about it..
It’s the only thing we’re missing to have an Utopia.

No money could mean chaos. Chaos means war. The technology for free energy is too powerful to be world free. Countries would fight for it. Rogue nations like Iran could wreak havoc with it. It’s nuclear cold war all over again.

Which is why I doubt Steorn is any real. Any such project would be hijacked by the American DoD if there was any substantial proof of it being true.
