Although the terms of settlement were not disclosed, it seems that both companies did not want to turn this into a legal battle. Maybe Cisco got some money out of Apple. I am sure Apple’s iPhone will be THE iPhone and everyone will forget about the Cisco iPhone (or any other previous software products called iPhone).

AppleInsider | Cisco and Apple settle iPhone trademark dispute:

Cisco and Apple said Wednesday that they have resolved their dispute involving the “iPhone” trademark.

Under the agreement, both companies are free to use the “iPhone” trademark on their products throughout the world.

Both companies acknowledge the trademark ownership rights that have been granted, and each side will dismiss any pending actions regarding the trademark.

With that cleared, we can now go back to holding our breath, waiting for a final release date. Rumors circulated that the iPhone will be release earlier than expected. I surely hope so..
