Ikbis new look

It’s unbelievable how behind I am with my blogging. I’ve been meaning to blog about the functional and visual interface improvements and the sites new features of ikbis for SOME WEEKS now. But things are simply CRAZY.

OK. Let’s not wait any longer:
1. Internal messaging system: send and receive messages to and from other ikbis users. Tell them how much you like their photos and videos for example.

2. Favorites: Like that video? Want to show it to someone later? Add to favorites!

3. Full screen on Flash 9 with fallback for Flash 8 players: I am really happy that we beat most global video sharing sites to this feature. I blogged about this before and people seem to like it. This full screen viewing thing is giving us more ideas that we hope to implement soon.

4. New album editor based on Flash: We’re starting to experiment with Flash based interfaces. I am not totally happy with how this turned out, but its a good step in the right direction. User friendly and dynamic flash interfaces for web applications is the way to go.

5. Bulk uploader, also built with Flash: this was a badly needed feature on ikbis: want to upload a huge bunch of images in one go? Now you can.

6. Browse shots from single shots page (using AJAX): While on a photo or video page, you can browse back and forth in a little pane that shows thumbnails of a user’s shots.

7. New video player look—> Includes previews at the end of the clip + a share button: Our player is now one of the best looking on the planet. Our graphics and Flash geniuses did a great job with that (ok enough self congratulation!)

8. Metadata of photos now shown to users: All kind of interesting information such as camera type, exposure, ISO and a bunch of other photographic properties I know nothing about are now viewable to photo freaks.

9. Interface improvements here and there: too many to mention here.

10. More delicious-looking graphics: We gave the site a bit of gloss, tidied up some of the layouts and fixed some visual bugs.

That’s it for now..
