iPhone price in germany
I was tempted to buy an iPhone from Germany (as it was launched here a couple of days ago). But I won’t do it. The damn thing costs 399 Euros here which translates in 582 US$. That’s 40% more than the 399 US$ it costs in the US.

I have never understood Apple’s pricing policy for Europe. Apple’s Middle East’s prices follow the European ones. That’s why Apple’s hardware is perceived as so expensive in our market.

This stinks. Nokia can deliver good prices on high end phones in the Middle East and enjoys an amazing market share. Why Apple needs to charge us 40% extra i s beyond me.

In the case of laptops, I once roughly calculated that for the price of a high end MacBook pro in Germany, a German buyer can actually buy a return flight to New York and go buy a Mac from there.

So, I won’t be getting an iPhone from Berlin.

Well I don’t know about Europe, but in England everything costs more than the US, so maybe it’s not just Apple’s pricing policy?

On the other hand, buying from the US is a good deal for us Jordanians; The new 160GB iPod would cost you about 250 JDs. As far as I know that’s 90 JDs cheaper than here.

It’s not just Apple. All official and name brand electronics are more expensive in Europe and the Middle East. I refuse to buy any non-essential electronics from these areas, opting instead to purchase them in the States and bring them over.

I think it’s safe to say that Apple’s hardware is more expensive everywhere, even here in the US 😀

well, one thing not to forget is, the pretty high taxes in europe on non-EU made stuff..
