If it spins and it’s hot then it must be the latest hit on Play 99.6, Jordan’s No.1 Hit Music Station, by far the most exciting development in the Kingdom’s radio market this year. The station burst onto the scene last month with its energetic sound, slick production, professional team and, most importantly a hot brand.
“When the Play 99.6 team came to us, they had already developed the name ‘Play’ for their station, and where looking for a branding company that is able to give their brand a hot, energetic and urban image,” says Ahmad Humeid, SYNTAX CEO.
After extensive visual explorations, SYNTAX developed the idea of using a flame painted spin-top, as an appropriate symbol that communicates the playfulness and energy of the station.
“In a marketplace that will witness heated competition over the coming months and years, we wanted to develop a visual design language for Play 99.6 that is distinctive, sophisticated and a bit irreverent,” adds Humeid.
For the station’s introduction to Jordan’s advertising agencies, SYNTAX developed a special package that contained a Play-branded toy (Frisbees, firecrackers, water-guns, etc) with an information booklet that was humorously authored using tongue-in-check “warnings” and “instructions”. SYNTAX is also currently developing Play 99.6’s web site.
“We’re very excited about our association with the creative team behind Play 99.6. What they’re doing is part of a rapidly changing regional media scene. This presents us with new creative opportunities to help new media ventures create successful branding, communication and interactive solutions.” Humeid concludes.
