Jordan Post delivered this!
I’ve been wanting to blog about this for months. This letter has been lying on my desk for a long time and every time I look at it I am amazed.

This is an invitation from a Chinese (or events/expo company, who apparently got my name from some online directory. It was sent on the 26th of June, 2007, and arrived in my mailbox on the 17th of July. Another stamp says it arrived in Jordan on the 2 of July. Between arriving in Jordan and arriving in my mailbox, there was quite a delay.

But look at the address.

CEO
SYNTAX LEBANON
Sweileh, Jordan

First of all: no name of recipient (just CEO)
Then: SYNTAX LEBANON (We have no office in Lebanon! Our official Arabic company name is not SYNTAX and the post box is actually in my name)
Then: Sweileh (Actually our mailbox is in Jubeiha)
Notice: no P.O.Box and no Postal Code.

Still, it arrived! The handwriting on the envelope, that of a post worker, states our correct P.O.Box and Area Code.

Wow.

Obviously, I did not go to the conference advertised in that letter! I am in Amman :-)

But here is a thank you for the diligent unknown postal worker who somehow was able to find out who the letter was for.

you are either very (VERY) famous or your name is on some list, in which case and if i were you, i would be worried rather than amazed and thankful :)

I think Jameed means you should be worried with the people who managed to LOCATE you in Amman!! They are either from Aramex, Al Ghad distribution system, Amman municipality or someone else!

    This is funny!
A short addressee format and it reaches the intended person makes one think that the post company has a search engine to locate possibilities of short addresses!
The post company is an example of newly privatized services that introduced a significant number of enhanced services such as:
    1. Advertisement
    2. Various Invoice Payments
    3. Bank Services
    4. Electronic Stamps and Accounting System
    5. Tele Cards
and looks like that their sales division still has a lot of ideas to implement, but people still function poorly (e.g. You need to have all coin exchange possibilities as they always lack them. e.g. They do not collect internet portion of the telecom invoice as the system do not accept it for unknown reason. e.g. New furniture and wood designs that will not last long due to poor service technique…)
When will we reach a stage were you can easily have a satisfying counter-customer relationship?

Remarkable! Especially since even express couriers like Aramex, DHL and FedEx in Jordan (in my experience) have not been able to deliver things to my house unless they call and ask for directions…. even though the street address, number and neighborhood are clearly marked.
To have received that letter in your PO box is crazy.
It’s a sign, GO TO THE CONFERENCE!
