Others have beaten me to the story :) is here. We just checked who registered the domain for them and it’s the Abu Ghazaleh company (they have an Intellectual Property division that handles stuff like that). [Thanks Jad for the quick info and David for his comment on my previous post]

Now, I have been blogging/whining about Google’s slowness in Jordan for a while. I hope is fast. Let’s keep in mind that the whole slowness thing might have nothing to do with Google, but with the ISPs. Many readers of 360east have voiced this opinion. Let’s keep testing a reporting.

Yet, it’s really nice to have Jordan recognized by Google as a market. I wonder if this reflects on Google Adsense (better targeting, higher paying keywords). In fact a number of Jordanian advertisers are using Adsense, most notably Jordan Telecom and Mobilecom.

Google away my friends..

it is nice indeed to see google recognize Jordan.

It would be nice though if they add a link to invoke a virtual Arabic Keyboard like what Maktoob has.

I’ve bought this book called “Arab Voices Speak to American Hearts” by Samar Dahmash Jarrah; a few weeks ago and I was facscinated by the facts that I read from ordinary Arab citizens. As an American it made me change the way I view Arabs (Muslims and Christians) in the Middle East and it also made me understand more about our foreign policy and Middle East politics.

hehe … Actually Google have bought the domains:,, quit a time ago…. it was directed to the usual Google Arabic that appears when u open Google for the very 1st time from a PC in an Arabic country.

I’ve been working for about 5 months with Abu Ghazale Intellectual Property (AGIP) which are probably the most powerful division now of TAGI , I finished my work with them just last week actually (I was working on a project) …. and i’ve asked about the story (since i know that google has those domains before starting with AGIP) and they have told me that they “Google” have bought domains in many arab countries, not only Jordan, but jordan was the 1st… and told me that google is “Planning something ;) ” I didnt really expect them to start it with Jordan, and to be honest i thought it’s just a kind of protection for their domain name, and maybe a future plan….

but can i say, Google Roxx and rolls ;)
