I just received this ad by email.. Segways have reached Jordan! If you don’t know what Segway is, look here.

I don’t have time to call these people up today. But I would be curious how much it costs. Another question would be: where will these machines allowed to go. Malls? Airports? Sidewalks? Hospitals?

Interesting..

BTW: don’t bother looking at segway-jordan.com. I tried to look under their domain name but there’s nothing there.

Impossible to run it on the sidewalks and suicidal to run it on the streets. Our city isn’t even wheelchair friendly. A Segway in Jordan just seems like an expensive, useless toy.

Hehe… scooters are finding it hard to roam Amman’s streets… too difficult when even proper cars cannot handle the insanity of some (a lot of, actually) Jordanian drivers… Human beings are not/cannot use sidewalks… and for JD6000… I’d rather walk!

Great to see all the feedback..Segway is targetted mostly to corporates as a commuting solution, rather than a “toy” as someone previously called it. You should think about the application of Segway in terms of security and its efficiency, roaming in factories and wearhouses, and most importantly the advertising aspect of the business..yes..advertising..and this is one of our strong arms..i suggest you visit http://www.chariotmedia.com and check out what we have already started implementing in Jordan for events, conferences, seminars, and advertising campaigns..so keep those postings coming, and call us for a Segway test glide at any time.

    Give them a break!

Guy..its strange reading through all of your posts..and I wonder weather this site/blog is becoming just a convenient way of slandering people and trying to put people down! I thought that as younge proude Jordanians, we should all stand side by side and try to support one another instead of just putting people down..or maybe this is the way things are done around this blog..so what if some units got recalled..I just hope you read the article properly where it states that only 6 incidents happended out of 23,500 units..did any of you even write about the “shawerma” incident in Amman .. or even try to talk and raise some eyebrows about it! I just hope we mature some day and stop bashing people for new initiatives they are trying to do..

i agree with the last post 110%. people without a life seem to be the most critical of others. giving others a break will give yourself a break. open your mind to anything that can be a positive step for the law of nations, where we can get along as neighbors without greed, jealousy, and hungry for power. and help all that all gods have created.

I heard of a guy that emulated the Segaway for 20% of the price.

But I’ve got an even better solution. Add a third wheel. Problem solved, no need for fancy gyrothingies to keep it up.
