Yesterday, on the spur of a moment, Salua and I decided to hop over to Dubai for the Eid holiday (note: we have non-Arab passports!). Amazingly we found tickets on Emirates and were able to buy them in the evening, although most of Amman was closed as the pre-Eid day is a public holiday in Jordan.

So a few hours ago we arrived in Dubai with our two kids, Qais and Eyas (Dad, this airport is better than Germany). We’re staying with our very dear friends Dalia and Duri, who picked us up from the airport in the huge SUV (it’s Dubai, baby). As expected Dubai has already changed since I was here only a few months ago. New malls, new skyskrapers, and so on.

The entry into Dubai is just so easy and fast. Yet we were delayed because Emirates airways managed to loose our baby stroller (I am sure it will turn up and be delivered to us). We’re trying to take it easy, but tomorrow will already be rather full of activities, including a visit to a new, reportedly great, science/exploration museum for children. And yes, we will visit the damn skying slope in the Mall of the Emirates. And yes I will wisit the Apple Store (although I don’t really know if it really a ‘real’ Apple Store). And yes, we will try to watch Narnia in the coming few days.

After meeting up with our friend Big Qais, and a lengthy talk about politics, life and the universe, everybody has retired to bed. But not me. Apple has announced a huge array of things that I need to check out. I might even try to watch the the Jobs keynote over this great 1 MB WiFi connection.
